From a story by Anand and a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan, the upcoming Indian action thriller Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand. It is the fourth film in the Yash Raj Films Spy Universe and stars John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, and Shah Rukh Khan. It was produced by Aditya Chopra. Pathaan will be released in India on January 25, 2023, during the Indian Republic Day weekend, in both Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions.

Production

1. Film Development: On March 2, 2022, Yash Raj Films, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham made an official announcement about Pathaan on their respective social media accounts. In addition, they provided a first look teaser and announced that the movie would be released on January 25, 2023. It had previously been repeatedly teased by other cast members, including Salman Khan and Vishal Dadlani. "No number from the past matters, no number in the future is too big," Dadlani said on Twitter when he announced the movie. The entire world is looking forward to Shahrukh. More importantly, we are all working on a fantastic musical film. This is the first Bollywood film to be shot with IMAX cameras and YRF's first Dolby Cinema release.

2. Film Casting: In September 2020, Khan was cast in the movie. Padukone began working on the project in November, and Abraham completed the primary cast by beginning filming in Mumbai in June. In December 2020, Dimple Kapadia received her role. Salman Khan will reprise his role as Avinash Singh Rathore from the Tiger franchise in a cameo appearance in November 2020, it has been revealed. Additionally, Hrithik Roshan is scheduled to appear in a cameo, playing Kabir Dhaliwal from War again (2019).

Film Music

Vishal–Shekhar wrote the film's music, and Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara wrote the score.

Vishal-Shekhar rejoined with maker Meghdeep Bose, after already working together on Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), on the film's music game plan and creation.

On December 12, 2022, the first single, "Besharam Rang," was released. On December 22, 2022, the second single, "Jhoome Jo Pathaan," was released.

Film Controversy

The "Besharam Rang" melody of the film went into discussion after traditional Hindu gatherings claimed that the tune advances profanity and it slights the saffron tone as Deepika highlights in a saffron two-piece in the melody. Narottam Mishra, the home minister of Madhya Pradesh, said that the song was offensive and that his government might consider banning the movie if the costumes in the song aren't fixed. As a means of protest against the film, posters and effigies of Shahrukh Khan were burned in various MP cities. The Censor Board was questioned by TV actor Mukesh Khanna for distributing the song despite its profanity. The News Minute referred to the entire controversy as a "shameless misreading for jingoism," stating that Deepika wore five different costumes in the song and that Hindu groups are hyping the orange bikini scene, which only appears for 20 seconds, in order to advance their agenda.
